Lough Derg Yacht Club Delivers Fantastic RS Dinghy Regatta
Lough Derg Yacht Club proved the perfect location this past weekend with almost 40 RS dinghies descending from all over Ireland to compete in what proved to be an absolutely buzzing regatta. The RS dinghy classes to compete included the RS Feva, the RS 200 & RS 400 and the RS Aero, which ensured a very large age range across the competitors.
With additional support given to the event by Kenny Rumball as Irish RS dinghy representative and event sponsor, those sailors who secured podium places received great prizes, with a number of impressive trophies were handed out.
Assisted by the latest robotic mark technology, the race management team at Lough Derg manged to secure a series on Saturday under the watchful eye of PRO John Leech in fresh conditions. It was just as well, as Sunday saw the wind Gods desert the race area, resulting in racing being abandoned for the final day. Onshore, club members Fred Tottenham, Adair Leech and their wider team ensured the smooth running of every aspect of competitor requirements across the event, with the highlight being a wonderful dinner in the club on Saturday evening.
