Youth Worlds Team Announcement!

Six Irish Sailors prepare for the Youth World Sailing Championships in Lake Garda, Italy this week. The event will take place from the 15th – 20th of July

The Youth Sailing World Championships are the leading international youth sailing event, showcasing the future stars of the sailing world. Northern Lake Garda will welcome the best U19 sailors from all over the world, Ireland will be competing in the ILCA6 and 29er. But the event will also host 420s, Nacra15’s, iQFOiL and Formula Kite classes.

 

Representing Ireland we have:

Men’s Dinghy 

Bobby Driscoll (Royal North YC) – ILCA 6

Women’s Dinghy

Lucy Ives (Ballyholme YC) – ILCA 6

Men/Mixed Skiff

Oisin Pearce and Fionn Daly (Royal Cork YC) – 29er

Women’s Skiff

Clementine Van Steen Berge and Jessica Riordan (The National YC) – 29er

With Coaches Joao Prieto and Milan Vujasinovic

 

Bobby Driscoll was this year’s ILCA 6 Irish Sailing Youth Nationals Champion, while Lucy Ives won the ILCA Nationals last Summer in Howth Yacht Club. In addition to this Clementine is one half of the 29er team that won the World Championships last summer Weymouth. Irish Sailing is proud to be sending such a talented bunch of young sailors to compete on the world stage and get a taste of the years of competition to come…
