Frostbite Racing Leagues Close in on Festive Season
Clodagh O’Donovan’s ‘Roaring Forties’ was winner of the best dressed festive boat for the O’Leary Insurance frostbites.
Despite yet another weekend of disruptive weather, several Frostbite leagues have successfully concluded (or are close to concluding), across the Country.
The O’Leary Insurance sponsored Frostbite cruiser league in Cork harbour saw the final day of sailing replaced by an earlier than advertised prizegiving. With just under thirty cruisers competing in the non-Spinnaker IHS class, Clodagh O Donovan’s ‘Roaring Forties’
took the overall win by ½ a point from Ria Lyden’s X332, while in the IRC non spinnaker class, Peter O Leary’s Star took the honours with 13 points to spare over Kieran Collin’s Folkboat.
Two other very successful frostbite leagues (the Brass monkey series run out of Howth Yacht Club and the Turkey Shoot series in Dun Laoghaire) are scheduled to conclude next Sunday. Both leagues have also attracted large numbers, which is a credit to all the volunteers who give of their time to organise competitive sailing throughout the winter months.
