Information for Competitors

Welcome to Schull!

The 2022 Junior All Irelands are being held in the picturesque town of Schull in West Cork. We’ve put a few guidelines in place to make everyone feel safer and more comfortable.

A few images of Schull on this link! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zgmU6MghKWw

The following information is also available as a PDF download HERE.

The Location

Practice Sail

  • Practice sails must be pre-booked with SL Rossiter: sl.rossiter@sailing.ie stating which time slot you would prefer 1500-1600hrs, 1600-1700hrs or 1700-1800hrs. Please note you must have registered before your practice sail.

Registration

  • You can register the day before the event, at the Community College main room, from 1400-1800hrs or on Saturday morning from 0815-0900hrs.

Plan for Weekend

  • Following registration on Saturday morning, there will be a briefing and draw for boats. Each team will locate their correct sails and rig their boat.
  • Launching and recovery will be assisted throughout by a team from Cork Education Training Board.

Racing

  • The course will be windward-leeward or triangle and will be confirmed at the briefing. The first warning signal on Saturday will be at 1025hrs and there will be up to 6 races.
  • On Sunday, first warning signal will again be 1025hrs with up to 3 races being sailed followed by the medal race.
  • The rest of the rules can be found on the Notice of Race and Sailing Instructions for the event above.

Recovery of Boats

  • On coming ashore, there will be some warm soup available to competitors and officials when the boats have been de-rigged, and sails and equipment have been returned correctly to their store.

Covid-19

  • There is a self-declaration that must be completed in advance of arrival at the event. If for any reason your symptoms or circumstances change during the event, please inform the Event Organiser as soon as possible. This form can only be completed within 48 hours of attending so please do not complete before this. It will be open just before the event and I will alert everyone on the WhatsApp group.
  • The link for this is here: https://forms.office.com/r/mjZpzPDFRb

Keeping Green

  • We’re still being clean and green!
    • Wash down will be completed by the volunteers for the event.
    • Recycle bins are at the Community College.
    • Sailing Instructions and Protest Forms are online. There will be no hard copies provided.
    • There is a drinking water dispenser to the right of the main door at the Community College. Please reuse your water bottles.

Changing Rooms and the Centre

  • The changing rooms and showers are open for use. Please limit your time in the changing rooms and be aware of the numbers in the changing room at any one time.

Entertainment

  • There are no formal entertainment plans for Saturday evening but most of us plan to dine at the Bunratty Inn which you pass on the way to the Community College. You would be very welcome to join us around 1900hrs.

Parents and Guardians

  • The Community College will be open for you to remain on-site with a lovely relaxing area upstairs with views over the bay and the racing area. There are tea and coffee making facilities here also but if you want buns you will have to bring them yourselves!

Communications

  • We have a WhatsApp group set up for the event and this will also be the event Notice Board, simply open your camera and scan the below QR code to join. Results will be posted here along with official notices and some photos (if I get to take any good ones!).
