Instructor Pre-Entry Assessment
The Pre-Entry Assessment is the first-step on the Instructor Pathway and is a personal skills assessment. It is one of the few ‘formal’ evaluations within the Irish Sailing training framework and its sole purpose is to ensure Irish Sailing Instructor candidates have the required practical skill and background knowledge expected of an Instructor.
The assessment is conducted on a PASS - FAIL basis and consists of two-parts; Afloat & Ashore
The Instructor Pre-Entry Assessment is conducted by an Irish Sailing Instructor Trainer and they are not looking for the next Olympian, they be seeking to confirm that you can use your boat competently and confidently.

Go Windsurfing & Go Winging HERE
There is no 'Pre-Entry Assessment' for Go Windsurfing and Go Winging Instructors. Windsurfing and Wing Instructor candidates complete a Self-Assessment instead, as these sports are taught from the board rather than a supporting safety boat. Technical skills are observed and developed throughout the course.
